Frequently Asked Questions

What is Journey?

JOURNEY is our annual camp for students completing grades 9-12 by June 2019. It’s a week filled with powerful teaching, great music and worship, opportunities for your student to make new friends, and exciting activities in the mountains of Colorado.

Where do we stay?
JOURNEY is held at the Winter Park Resort in Winter Park, Colorado.  We have reserved an entire hotel and restaurant to host your students and their leaders at camp.
how do we get there?

We choose charter buses based on their quality of buses and customer service record in addition to their DOT safety record. Road Runner has the best/newest fleet with an exceptional customer care record as well as some of the best DOT numbers in the industry. They are safe, reliable, and comfortable.

Why are there two sessions of JOURNEY?

Over the past few years we have seen unprecedented growth at JOURNEY.  So, in order to create the best experience for your students, we have split JOURNEY into two sessions.  Students will attend JOURNEY with the Lake Pointe Campus they attend to help insure they experience camp with their friends and others from their church campus and school.  Of course, if for some reason a student wants to attend with another Lake Pointe Campus, they can do so, but students can only attend one session.  Both sessions of camp are identical in their programming.

Will there be security?

We have a whole crew of people whose number one job is making sure that your student has a fun, and safe experience while at camp.  In addition, our small group leaders, staff, and volunteers provide the necessary adult supervision to insure the best experience for our students. Most issues that arise, we handle on site and are not a big deal. However, we will inform you of any major offenses, especially those that require disciplinary action. Though rarely employed, we reserve the right to send students home at their expense for major offenses.

What about room requests?

We always do our best to accommodate rooming requests, however we can’t make promises to fulfill all requests, especially if students sign up late. That said, students are not usually in their room much at all, and the vast majority of camp takes place outside the room. Know that your student is going to have a great experience even if he/she sleeps in a different room than his/her friends.

What happens if my student gets sick or hurt?

We have a highly-trained group of paramedics and nurses that go with us to camp to provide the best care for our students in the event they are hurt or get sick.  If there is an issue, you will be contacted by one of our medical personnel.

What are punch cards used for?

The punch cards can be used for purchases at our concession stand which will be open during free time and late night (after worship). Concession stand snacks will include assorted drinks, chips, candy and hot foods like nachos, pizza, burgers, etc. Punch cards can also be used to buy our compassion merchandise (t-shirts and hoodies). Punch cards cannot be used for purchases in the Village, they are only redeemable at Lake Pointe’s concession stand. Any leftover balances will not be refunded; all money must be spent at camp.

Is there financial assistance?
We never want finances to be a barrier to attending camp, and we have very generous people in our Church who make our financial assistance program possible. If you need financial assistance please stop by your campus and fill out an application (the forms are only available on a campus, and not available online).  You will need to turn in the financial assistance application with a completed registration form and a $50 deposit.  We will let you know the amount you’ve been awarded once our approval process is complete.
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF A LeAder?

A JOURNEY leader is a pivotal part of the camp experience! They show the love of Christ to your student through leading a small group, building relationships through shared experiences, insuring student’s safety, and making sure they have an amazing time at camp.  We ask volunteers to pay $150 to attend.  This allows us to keep the cost to our students at a minimum.

HOW Do i make additional payments towards my balance?

You can make additional payments by going to my.lakepointe.org and logging in to your Lake Pointe account. Once you’re logged in, select Event Registrations on the left-side menu, then select your student’s camp registration. Once you do, you can make a payment online.

You can also turn in cash or check to your Lake Pointe campus’ student ministry, or call 469.698.2400 to make a card payment over the phone.
